Linear shrinkage and the methylene blue spot test in the analysis of plasticity of granulometrically stabilized laterites

For a soil to be granulometrically stable, it must present low plasticity and granulometric composition that conforms with the limits regulated by standards. This article presents study of clay fraction activity three laterites from Triângulo Mineiro region, aiming use them in stabilized base. The experimental phase contained determination liquidity limit, plastic sand equivalent silica sesquioxide ratio, addition Methylene Blue spot test, linear shrinkage, MCT classification X-ray diffraction. results show alone is not able evaluate content impurities fraction; needs performed along test. Linear shrinkage proved an important indicator plasticity, capable measuring small values plasticity. Finally, precisely indicated lateritic behavior samples.
